About Us

The Bali Hotel and Tourism Training Institute (STP) in Nusa Dua, Bali, is a prestigious state institute under the Department of Tourism, Post and Telecommunication. It was initially established as the “Bali Hotel and Tourism Training Centre” (P4B) in 1978, offering PreVocational Training programs. In 1982, it was renamed Balai Pendidikan & Latihan Pariwisata (Hotel and Tourism Training Institute) Nusa Dua, Bali (BPLP Nusa Dua, Bali) and later attained university-equivalent status in 1993, following a Presidential Decree (Kepres) no. 102. This significant milestone marked its evolution into the institution now known as STP Nusa Dua, Bali.

Throughout its development, STP Nusa Dua, Bali, has garnered substantial financial support from international organizations, including UNDP, ILO, JICA, and The British Council. It has also received backing from the German Government and both Indonesian and International Hotel and Tourism Associations such as the WTO (World Tourism Organization) and IHA (International Hotel Association). This broad support underscores the institute’s vital role in shaping the future of the tourism and hotel industries.

STP Nusa Dua, Bali offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to meet the industry’s needs through the “Link” and “Match” principles, ensuring that its educational programs remain relevant to the tourism, hotel industries, and government institutions. It provides courses at basic, supervisory, and managerial levels for both the tourism industry and government departments. The institution prides itself on blending theoretical knowledge with practical skills, facilitated by extensive facilities including a training hotel, restaurants, kitchens, language laboratories, classrooms, a library, a computer room, audiovisual aids, a meeting hall, and a large playing field for arts and sports curricular activities.

The quality of STP’s graduates is enhanced by several key factors: a fixed curriculum, qualified and experienced teachers from the tourism and hotel industries, a conducive learning environment, opportunities for industrial training both in Indonesia and abroad, and an atmosphere that fosters high learning motivation. The institute also focuses on training staff from eastern Indonesia and offers managerial courses and Entrepreneur Training Programmes for those without formal education in the field, aiming to nurture professional, creative, and entrepreneurial graduates.

In its ongoing efforts to advance education in the tourism sector, STP Nusa Dua is preparing to launch a Master’s level program (SP1 or Program Spesialisasi 1) and plans to introduce a bachelor’s degree program in tourism. These initiatives demonstrate STP’s commitment to empowering future professionals with deep industry insights and entrepreneurship skills, further contributing to the growth and development of Indonesia’s tourism and hotel industries.
